>>43489890That's why I don't understand people who want Pokemon games to be "challenging" and romhacks that fall for this meme. It's impossible to make those games actually challenging because of the nature of the turn based combat, making them "hard" will only make them grindy. There's no skill involved and your knowledge is useless when the opponent's team is levels above yours, has perfect natures/ivs/evs/movesets or contains Pokemon and items that you can't even get in the game yet, the only way to progress in this case is to grind, which I wouldn't even mind if the game actually gave you some good grinding spots, but many romhacks don't have that so you end up semi-softlocked grinding against wild Pokemon that give 5% exp each. I'm not talking specifically about Clover here. Pokemon is especially bad on this aspect because the RNG in these games is more important than in any other turn based game, and one unlucky roll can completely ruin the entire fight.
I played Clover on no speedup and it took me 60+ hours to clear, I had to grind a shitton but that's mostly because I only used Pokemon that I liked, which in my opinion is the point of those games.
