>>43491144I played it recently for the first time and it is playable. I had a lot of fun.
>SpritesThe sprites are beautiful. I thought it was a meme how they are so zany and weird but it turned out to be enjoyable. While the sprite work technically improved each gen it is lifeless compared Red and Blue. The over-world is functional, nothing more.
>StorageItem and Pokemon storage is archaic but once you learn the limitations you can work around it. It's still a chore the worst part of the game for me.
>BattleHaving no information about moves was ridiculous. If I didn't know the moves already and the quirks of gen 1 I would be frustrated.
>AII felt dumb preparing for the E4 like I usually do. It was the easiest one. Mainly because the AI is so bad.
>AdventureKanto is a nice romp. People love selling it as an adventure where you have to figure out shit and and explore. There were few places that really gave you a chance to explore and everything was easy to figure out. Nothing special.
>pokemonSprites are great like I said. Some move pools are useless, others are OP. It's very limited but that ok because so are the opposing pokemon. The variety of pokemon is fantastic. Lots of normal-type moves unfortunately.
>overallSolid game even today. I don't think I'll play it again unless I want to see those nice pixels again- love them.
