If Luxray were Electric/Dark, would you like it less? More? Its design remains the same, so why?

Pokemon are more than their design. If a Pokemon isn't fun to use in game, then that's going to impact my enjoyment of it as a species. Changing type affects offensive ability by changing the STABs and defensive ability by changing weaknesses/resistances.

I never understood what made Golurk a ghost. From what I can tell, they aren't possessed or anything. They're just machines made by man that somehow count as pokemon now.
Maybe change it to ground/rock or ground/fighting or something? Or change it to Ground/Fire since it's a living rocket pretty much.

Feels difficult to retype since most of the weird guys like Gligar already are dual type and there seems to be typing influenced by game mechanics instead of habitat/abilities such as Shelmet.

It’s hard to say. I haven’t come across a pokemon yet, where I liked the design but thought, “if only it was x type, I could actually enjoy this pokemon”. But if they suddenly changed types of some of my favorites, I feel like I wouldn’t like it.

A Bug/Normal would be a bug type that is closer to a non elemental. Maybe something like a manticore or ushi-oni that has aspects of a mammal as well as an insect.

Flying on its own is rare, with it seeming to mean air elemental. If Castform didn't have the type change gimmick, I think it would have been pure flying.

Sandstorm being rock-type when sand in pretty much every other context being ground type is strange. Also since the technology is there now, Muddy Water should behave like Flying Press and calculate as both water and ground type.

The only weird things to themselves I can't understand are X/Normal. Does it mean it mostly has other type's properties? Having difficulty imagining how Heliolisk is less Electric than say Zebstrika.

They wanted Psychic and Dragon to be very rare, powerful types in Gen 1 which is why so few Pokemon have either of them in that generation. If it wasn't for this then Psyduck/Golduck would have almost certainly been Psychic along with Charizard probably being Dragon.

For heliolisk I think they just really wanted to play up that it doesn't make its own electricity, otherwise it'd be pure electric it really should've been electric/fire or electric/ground but I get the reasoning. Pyroar is the gen 6 half normal I don't get.
