>>43505566If they see 1.26 million as a success, I'm hopeful they'll do an Explorers remake. If they wanted the largest audience possible, they probably would have remade Explorers instead of Rescue Team. Remember though, the original Rescue games sold 5.25 million, Explorers did slightly better at 5.9 Million. Let's assume DX sells 2 Million to 2.5 Million in its lifetime, not too shabby, but still half of what the original sold though. If they chose to remake Explorers, they'd probably expect similar sales numbers.
They already have a huge chunk of game code, models and animations already created, if they chose to create an Explorers remake, they would still have to assign updated skeletons and animations for the Gen 4 Pokemon and all that, but aside from that it's mostly just creating new world maps, updated music and dungeons. That's not to say it'll take them a few months since Explorers had like 10 times more content of Rescue Team.
I was hoping they'd be able to ween off the Unity engine because It's pretty obvious how badly it's holding it back, but if they want to reuse as much as possible they'd just have to deal with it.
