the bottom line is that the old core nintendo fans with standards are greatly outnumbered by the new "blue ocean" consoomer audience who are legitimately too ignorant to know better. this isn't unique to pokemon - just look at animal crossing, for example. new horizons is an unfinished snorefest with an anti-consumer "one island per console" policy, but it's selling even faster than swsh. you know that picture about the degradation of a hobby? that's exactly what happened to nintendo when the wii came out, and it's not changing anytime soon.
