Although, also considering Melmetal is getting a G-Max form, and the hex-nuts fit in pretty nicely with Galar's industrial themes, the line could even be retconned into originating from said region. The Galar Pokedex (though it is currently impossible to read them in-game) even mentions ancient legends that spoke of G-Max Melmetal.
Now I feel like I'm confusing myself. There's specific generations, sure, but can you really say any Pokemon belongs to a specific region?
