The design is just detailed enough to where it looks like a high end version of a more affordable model, helped by the black and gold color scheme. I also really appreciate the progression of Poke->Great->Ultra because it actually feels like you're gaining an advantage as you progress in your journey: It's not like getting a sword that deals 2x damage but suddenly all the monsters have 2x HP, most Pokemon just become easier to catch.
