>>43537922>I don't know why you have an issue with non-reptilian grass starters though, each starter type should have variety.I always liked dinosaurs and the grass starters were consistely reptiles with big ass plants growing from them, like kurama. That's not to say i didn't like the other starters, I pretty much liked allof them before gen 5 except chimchar and oshawott.
My hate for chespin is that mammals never felt like a logical connection with plants, unlike reptiles, which are cold-blodded creatures that need sun, just like plants.
Also Chespin's grass usage was really reaching in my opinion.
Bulbasaur: Has a literal plant growing with him since he's born symbiotic shit.
Chikorita: Pretty much the same principle but with a brontosaur and dinosaurs are amazing.
Treeko: Geckos climb trees and his tail becomes a tree.
Turtwig: A tortoise who becomes a mini-earth, which as we all know is filled with plants.
Snivy: Pythons are basically arborean creatures, there's not a lot of relation to his grass powers other than that, but i get it, snakes are green and shit.
Chespin? It's based in a chestnut? why? what do hedgehogs ahve to do with it? Oh because he's a knight, nice, why not make him fighting/steel then?
Rowlet? It's the same principle as snivy i guess, they both live in trees, but it's even stretching it more, what do arrows and archery has to do with grass? Is it because robin hood lived in a forest? Owls aren't even green.
Grookey: Same, other than being a pokemon living in the trees (which fits the criteria of any other monkey pokemon) what does it has to do with grass? Because his sticks are made of wood? really fucking stretching it. He would make a better Fairy or Dark pokemon, whatever music is supposed to be. You know how everyone hates how he has a slapped in drum in front of him and everyone hates him? Thats how i feel they added the grass type to it, just slapped into it.
