It stopped being relevant the instant Platinum came out, so like a year..

It was my favorite way of playing though and I miss battling on home consoles. SwSh just isn't the same.

I went to a Gamestop tournament where they used Battle Revolution around when the game first dropped. I was 11 at the time and I beat a dude who looked at least 30 and won a copy of the game. Shit was tight

That was filmed from one of the contestants' screens, there was a larger one in the middle that didn't show them
You can see it at the end of the 3rd vídeo
I have no idea what kind of setup they had (i played with My DS connected to the Wii against people that did the same)

If that's the case then it's probably a special version, and the setup they had makes it more likely
Maybe it had platinum compatibility but didn't end up in stores for some reason

For a bit, but then Platinum made it obsolete, since it added a few broad mechanical changes that Revolution didn't have.
If it had received update patches, it might have stayed relevant.

same situation as pokemon ranch where they didn't update the game with platinum. Except japan got the update for pokemon ranch only. I suspect at that point Genius Sonority had internal struggles, couldn't figure out how to apply updates to pbr or didn't see it worth it because by 2009, the game was pretty much a wasteland.

Actually now I remembered that the game already recognizes Platinum, it sees it as Diamond. HGSS support had to be patched though, and that was Japan-only.
