It was the year 2009 and Platinum was about to come out. I got a DS Lite (instead of a DSi so that I could play GBA games) and Platinum, and I really enjoyed that game. I had a lot of memories trading and battling online using the Serebii Wi-Fi chats. At this time, I was such a huge fan that I used to make YouTube videos. I learnt that HGSS was about to come and I was really excited, Johto was my favourite region at the time (it still is now, tied with Hoenn) and I even called it my favourite game before it even came out. Once it did come out, I lost interest, I think I didn't want to play the Johto region again, or it could be that I didn't get many games as a kid and I didn't want to ask for this one.
Generation 5 information began to surface. I initially had a good impression with the starters, I thought they looked cool but I thought that Pokémon was going to stop after Sinnoh because Arceus was the last Pokémon in the dex and I thought it'd be a suitable position for a God Pokémon. Nevertheless, I was kinda excited until they revealed more designs and for some reason I was really put off. I didn't initially like all the designs and lost a lot of interest. This made me stop caring about Pokémon after gen 4 for a while, in the meanwhile I finally got myself Emerald, Ruby and LeafGreen and I played those games every summer.
Later on, I gave Unova another chance and I opened up to the designs, and the gameplay was fun as well - I prefer Unova over Sinnoh now. I still haven't got my hands on any game after BW though but I do plan on playing Gen 6, 7 and 8 even if they seem bad. Instead I started collecting more games, I got Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Sapphire in cartridge form. One last thing I want to say is that it's funny how I'm a bigger fan than my friend who introduced me to the series. He also stopped caring about the series when Gen 5 came out, but unlike me, he never stopped playing the games much, aside from X&Y a bit.
