Pokémon should have a retro graphics mode like Dragon Quest does. With Gen 2 graphics and sounds.

I find it funny. Dragon Quest is legendary in Japan, but they do try to do little things once in a while.
Meanwhile in Pokemon, we have this mess.

they cant even design the whole game in 3d in their development time whats makes you think they could do that + new sprites. It's surprising too because importing models you already made 5 years ago is way easier than making sprites

I absolutely agree. We live in a bizzarro timeline where, despite how commercialy successful Pokemon is, the games will never reach their full potential, or close to it. In this fucked up timeline, the games peaked during Gen 2, despite the series going on to make 6 more gens afterwards and rake in hundreds of millions of dollars.

Making and animating the model and animations for the current player character is already more work than doing all overworld sprites of one of the classic games combined.

Pokémon should have job system like several JRPGs do. In a world where I can battle, bond, or show affection towards Pokémon, why should I have to be just a Pokémon trainer, challenge Gyms and become a League Champion?

its not tho because they made the majority of them for x/y all they have to do is make a tool to convert them to the format for the new engine then its all automated, even then only half the attacks have proper anims

I said the main player character, not the pokemon. But thank you for fringing up the Pokemon, because here is another fact: it took more work to model, rig and animate Wooloo and it's evolution than it took to make sprites for 1/2 of a 2d game dex.

Dragon Quest only did this once and because the game was a callback to the original trilogy, it made sense to use graphics inspired by DQIII for the SNES.

Future installments serve no benefit maintaining this as a standard.
