Likewise, the postgame Anabel/Looker quest, while fairly mediocre, at least helped better resolve the plot point of Ultra Beasts still skulking about Alola; in the Ultra games, this is resolved basically before it begins in lieu of the dull minigame.
Rainbow Rocket is also concentrated stupidity; Giovanni's arc had been resolved since the event in Gen 4; randomly having him turn evil again for no reason is nostalgia pandering at its worst, and Giovanni's "alliance" with the various other Villainous Team leaders makes no sense either; none of these people would work with him or eachother, so him gathering them all is nonsensical.
