>>43548958I don't play competitive, cunt. Smogon can go suck itself for all I care, all I want is for the game I buy to be fun. Massive spectacle battles like Ultra-Necrozma in USUM are the sort of thing that I actually enjoy.
By making it something the player can use themselves they severely limited the amount of crazy shit they could have actually done with them. They could have given them more than four moves, or let you have a four-on-one fight against them like an actual JRPG boss fight, or a dozen other actually good ideas.
What do we get instead? A gimmick that gives us absolutely zero build-up to get the supposed 'pay-off' of being able to Dynamax. You can do it right out of the gate in the very first Gym battle, or even earlier if you go do a Max Raid Battle. That sort of shit should be post-game only, but no, Gamefreak needs to jingle their shiny new set of keys in front of our faces to distract people from the fact that they haven't actually introduced anything new to the series for nearly an entire decade.
Dynamaxing COULD have been a good idea, if it were done by anybody other than Gamefreak.
