Basically, during a battle you can choose to convert a pokemon on your team into a soul of their type which acts like an item that you can equip on your active pokemon. Souls come in three main varieties with different functions, A) adds the soul’s type to the active pokemon (makes it possible to have three types); B) adds a powerful fifth move of the soul’s type; C) permanently boosts two stats for the duration of the battle, stats boosted vary by type (eg. Fire Soul C boosts Sp. Attack and Attack, Electric Soul C boosts Speed and Sp. Attack).
What soul you get depends on the species of the pokemon you convert, eg. Rapidash line becomes a Fire Soul A, Camerupt line becomes a Fire Soul B. Certain pokemon (legendaries, popular mons) become a species-specific soul with a unique effect; ie. Charizard becomes a Charizard Soul that boosts three stats (Att, Sp. Att, and Spd.) instead of just two. Visually, equipping a generic type soul gives the active pokemon a colored aura that reflects that type. Equipping a species-specific soul gives an aura that looks something like the pokemon it came from, ie. aura from a Charizard Soul looks like fiery wings or something.
Fusion happens when certain souls are equipped to certain pokemon; eg. equipping a Charizard soul on a Pikachu triggers a fusion into a new pokemon instead of just giving Pikachu a Charizard aura. (Sorry to use the most basic popular mons imaginable but I figured it would illustrate the idea better.)
Is this idea retarded? Probably. I realize it’s probably way too complicated for anything gamefreak would actually do, but oh well. I think it would be kinda cool if future games implemented something along these lines, idk. And I’ve had some fun visualizing and drawing what some of this stuff could look like. Would be down to hear what others think and what tweaks people would make.
