Cyrus
>His backstory confirms his reasons for being a villain, as he was rejected by his peers and neglected by his parents growing up. They just left him in rooms full of computers and machinery. His grandfather regrets not taking him in during this time of his life. But he thinks that the reason for all the wars and suffering in the world is the imperfect spirit. He compares it to the logical machines he was surrounded with and thinks of human beings as illogical. He thinks the world is so far gone that he needs to create a new one without spirit. No more anger or sorrow, only logic as he perceives it. But his perception is narrow because he was left to grow up all alone and without positive experiences with other people. He doesn't understand the value in the good things.
>Ironically, Platinum subtly throws him a bone by leaving him in the Distortion World where spirit doesn't exist - It's the world he wanted. Pokémon Generations went as far as to confirm this interpretation.
>The reason he has a Crobat on his team is to suggest that he's a master manipulator who can make both people (like Team Galactic) and Pokemon do his bidding all while making them believe that he's their friend.

Ghestis
>Is the leader of a team with reasonable goals but is so cartoonishly evil that it's impossible to take them seriously
>Is revealed to be evil just because he needs to be the main bad guy and has the personality of a saturday morning cartoon villain
>Literally nothing else to his character

Reminder that Plasma was a stepdown from Team Galactic.
