Why did they get rid of the Friend Safari? It was such a neat feature that brought people nicely together

I liked it simply because it helped me complete the gen 6 pokedex. I never bothered to complete gen 7 or 8 because I hated both generations

As someone who's been playing Gen 6 a fair bit since I'm trying to beat all the battle facilities as much as I can in all the games, this is a blessing and a curse, only being able to get the third option once you see your friend online sucks now, but I've got some good stuff from it.
