I'd also like to note the timeline barely adds up to testing the Swtich by porting ORAS, as Nintendo officially announced the Switch not long after SM, and while they were working on the hardware the only launch title they could really come up with was a port of BotW. However the gap year between ORAS and SM is a bit oddly placed even if Game Freak got first dibs on the early NX dev kit. I feel like maybe they tried to get a third team on Z, but whoever was in charge was way too much of a fuckup that it got canceled (which must have been a colossal fuckup given how bad GF usually does when making a Pokemon game) and the only reason TPC let it slide was because of the launch of Go and a big anniversary celebration that could be done independent of an actual game.
