Sold all my shit, I only have roms. I hate this series because it never actually changes. It’s a shallow, linear mediocre RPG. You’re a kid in a small town with a single mom and you get a grass/fire/water Pokémon that evolves at ~16 and ~36 from a “Professor” named after a tree. There’s a regional rodebt and a regional bird. You have an annoying rival or two (or three) and progress by fighting gyms lead by type specialists who can be swept by mashing A. There’s an “Evil Team” trying to exploit a special snowflake legendary Pokémon for some reason. There’s a victory road dungeon and a champion.

Alola was the only generation to shake things up for real and it was complete dogshit anyway. This series caters to the absolute dumbest motherfuckers alive with the excuse of “accessibility for all ages” when even autistic children think it’s too easy, and does so by rehashing the same tired 25-year-old tropes. And they get away with it every time. Pokémon’s potential is limitless, and will never be reached. It’s exhausting, trying to love this series. It’s easier to let go.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were the first games (outside of Let's Go) that I didn't get. The fact that they introduced alolan forms and then completely abandoned the idea midway through pissed me off to no end.
It was nice that they introduced some new UBs, and I thought it bold that they introduced a whole new Pokemon. But they didn't even bother give it a unique typing like Electric/Fighting.

As everyone on this board knows, these are just minor gripes in the long run when compared to the list of shit keeping the series stagnant and in some instances slipping very far backward.

The only meaningful differences between each generation are the region layouts and which pokemon you can run into. You'd think they'd get tired of doing the same thing for so long.

I grew up in Pokemania, collected the cards, and owned one of every version all the way up to gen 6 like a good consoomer. As a kid I never took the complaints of “every game is the same” seriously but now I know they were right.
