For Gen 2 I would recommend Pyrite Crystal. It's a Crystal hack focusing on difficulty, but in a more organic way.

Crystal Clear is a meme and not really good. Gen 1 has Red++, it's pretty good.
About Gen 3... I don't know a single one, a good one I mean. Almost every Emerald hack out there has retarded changes. The less idiotic one is Sigma Emerald.
Avoid Hoenn Adventures, it looks "good" but nothing else.>New stuffVega, Procyon, Denev, Gaia are some hacks with new regions and shit. The first ones are in Japanese tough. Oh, and also Clover if you're into fakemons.
