It needs to have and excel with Strong Jaw for thematic reasons. Crocodilians are famous for their extremely powerful bite force, saltwater crocodiles having the highest bite force recorded in a laboratory setting of ANY animal.

Feraligatr doesn't even look like a dragon, why change him? He's a starter, he's good enough as is. If anything make him part rock since alligators are unchanged from prehistoric times (and GF thinks rock = old)

Keep SpA to at least 70 and BST should be at max 535, although 530 is preferred for consistency with other ones. Even if gatre is your favorite mon, keep it fair and balanced without minmaxing or giving it a clear edge over other starters

Whatever happens it should have the highest base Attack of all starters. Feraligatr is huge. Bigger than Tyranitar.

Sheer Force boost multiple attacks. Strong Jaw is only for biting moves. The design with less to work with gets the less flexible ability

Tortoises don't perform the death roll. Not even snapping turtles ones or the alligator snapping turtle. It's a crocodilian thing, and should also be Water type because of that.

This is actually wrong, they’re genetically distinct from their ancestors. Things don’t remain static, even the coelacanth has some genetic differences from their fossils.
