Terrible idea. Pokémon names are treated as the name of a species of Pokémon. Do we call a cat a neko or grass as kusa for example?
However, the idea of not localizing the nicknames given to certain individual Pokémon and names given to the human characters is debatable.

I was my schools ambassador for japanese exchange students every year, so I met and socialized with many japanese people. Unrelated but I also never once among the over 120 japanese kids I met, ever met one that didn't throw up a peace sign for every single photo they were in. literally every one. Idk why.
