You can't use them in VGC or BSS, but you can use them when playing normal Wi-Fi battles, you fucking mongoloid.
And the only reason you need to use mons caught or bred in gen 8 is to ensure that certain players don't have access to tools that other players don't. Same reason why Phione is banned despite being complete shit.

It's two completely different situations.
Smogon is played mostly on showdown, so availability doesn't matter the way it does with VGC/BSS. Both players are equally capable of using a perfect IV Raichu that has Follow Me from an obscure Japanese event where a Pichu was distributed in 2005.
And besides, every top VGC player injects anyway and TPCi doesn't give a shit.

You can double target a DMax in VGC. If the opponent Dmaxes on something you don't want in, you have to switch into something that does, give them a boost, and hope you live the second attack on turn two.
Comparing Dynamax in VGC to Dynamax in Singles let's people know you probably don't play much competitively...
And if you do, you've never left the 1300s.

Dynamax is balanced for doubles. Knowing that Pokemon is locked out of targeting multiple Pokemon and isn't packing any kind of status move besides Protect is huge, and unless they're a mixed sweeper there's rarely going to be an offensive move in their set you can't predict while they dynamaxed. You also know any potential Choice items are disabled, meaning you can more readily predict the turn order. Bascially, you're temporarily stronger but you're also more predictable and can be played around.

In the future I think they should make Megas the Singles gimmick and Dynamax the doubles gimmick. Dynamax really does no favors for 3v3 singles, which were already getting kinda shitty.

they literally don't. Just look at the replay tab on PokemonShowdown. More than half of the replays aren't even of Gen8OU. A lot of them consist of stuff like random battles, national dex (AG) and older generations. Typically, when a new gen is out, replays would be Gen#OU for more than 90% of the replays.

When I was still trading on smogon in gen 4, event collecting was absolutely a thing and people would always keep UT (untouched) copies around. I still have a legit Wish Chansey in my Pearl cart somewhere (although its Calm and with horrible IVs).

Anon, that's just the 1825+ ladder. There are only 100 players with 1825 or more ELO.
The 1695+ usage stats (which are used to determine tier placements) are comparatively more reasonable and actually lean more towards offense with the obvious exception of Clefable.
In the unweighted stats, Clefable only has 28% usage, which is only 1% higher than Dragapult.

Ferrothorn isn't used on stall.
It does not have the longevity to repeatedly check stuff and hazard stacking is not so important to stall that they'd run a pokemon with no recovery for it.

bro leech seed is so much worse than recover/roost you can't consider it a consistent form of recovery.
not only does it heal consistently less and have a chance to miss, it completely fails against grass types and magic guard.
ferrothorn can't repeatedly switch into strong hits and wall stuff.
celesteela sees no use on stall for the same reason despite being better than skarmory in theory.

Ferrothorn generally has better things to be doing than running Iron Defense. I checked the usage stats, Iron Defense Ferrothorn straight up isn't a thing. Meanwhile, since Magnezone's sole purpose in life is to trap and kill Steels, it's probably going to be running Iron Defense more often than not so it can better use its anti-Steel coverage.
