I got to live through pokemania as a child and it's amazing to see that everyone has a favorite generation over the past 20 years.

My favourite part of the franchise is the multitude of things you can do. You can do a lot of different kinds of playthroughs, nuzlockes, there are battle facilties, rom hacks etc...

My favorite thing is that I can keep coming back to my old games and play them in new ways or just the same way years later and love them. The feeling of triumph from succeeding with a team of absolute bros is near unmatched in vidya.

The favourite thing about this franchise is how it transcends. Really, the world out there isn't like /vp/ and all those fucking EV trainers around.

I started playing these games with a friend when I was a little kid on a Gameboy Color and now I keep playing them as an adult with my friends on my Nintendo Switch. Also, I met amazing people raiding in Pokémon Go!

But the best thing is being able to play with my friends from long time ago. The other day I was doing some quarantine clean-up and found an old PC from 2005, found a Pokémon Crystal save that must be from around 2003 (played on emulators for a long time 'till I bought the Switch) and I almost cried when I saw all my friends from my first Crystal save: I could only send two of those to Shield but fuck it gave me chills.

I lived through Pokemania and I do not have a "true" favorite gen. The closest I get at times to having a favorite gen is MAYBE gen 2.

All the different types. A lot of rpgs have a "best team" or "beginner team" but pokemon, pretty much any team combination is doable.
Second one because I'm a cheater, having a team of 6 that you grow attached to by the end of the game. Especially if you have friendship evolution mons.

Wish I was around for pokemania. Sounds like a fun time, especially since the internet wasn't super huge so playground rumors were still rampant.
