Heliolisk also makes sense because it needs to charge up to be Electric, so it has a Normal side as well

What doesn't make sense is stuff like Wigglytuff and Pyroar. It's like they deliberately only made them Normal to have STAB with Hyper Voice

Yes I get it but Yanmega is really visually related to flight so it should be flying type. Golisopod on the other hand has a sort of dragon energy similar to garchomp, and is a samurai which has some connection with dragons I believe

That's why we have so many pure water or pure fighting types, deleting moves or shit like getting rid of old mechanics. Little Timmy or Hiroshi isn't going to be able to wrap his head around such a complex idea as battling a poison steel type he doesn't recognize or using a move like pursuit. You're right, that is the excuse and a valid reason for it. But you shouldn't have to defend the fact that the series has been around for 25 years and there are still things they still haven't even attempted. there's joy to be had and making us wait and making things feel special, but there's also the real concern that they're not taking this to its fullest potential or really trying to build something for the fans in the first place. maybe it seems hyperbolic to say that giving me an ice/poison type is respecting me as a fan when there's so many other things to worry about, but it's a little thing that indicates they still have an invested interest in the series

play testing is a lot to do with it. they've gone on record to say that they've changed pokémon around to balance the game. there is nothing wrong with that. But I think there's more creative ways to get around it too. like making the frillish water/ghost was for balance reasons and is also a unique typing that made them stand out. why can't it be more like that? why do they have to keep giving us things like grapploct and galarian rapidash when we already have several Pokemon with those types? there was nothing wrong with making them water/fighting and psychic/fire or fairy/fire for example. and there was nothing wrong with having moves like pursuit in the game. it's not cancer. it's part of the meta. why do you think so many fan games even the ones that are being made currently on this board work so hard to create original typings, moves and abilities? people really are passionate. game freak is not. and it really bugs me. I haven't bought a game since sun and after that disappointment and just have shitty sword and shield turned out, I have no desire to buy another game until they actually do something interesting with the franchise. and bothering to come up with new Pokemon that explore all the possible ideas that exist is a good step in the right direction

Electric had so many old Pokemon that should have been this combination. there's a lot of good ideas out there but I'm thinking in this moment of a toy robot, one that boxes with giant fists. we don't have enough robot Pokemon still

Ground could be some sort of animalistic fighter. A weird amalgam of a mole, badger, weasel or something like that that fights with its claws. Basically a bulkier looking blend of Drillbur and Mienfoo. something like that. it could even be a three-stage that ends with a Pokemon that uses clods of dirt as its fist. I could also see this being an earthworm that eventually evolves into that same idea, something that looks sort of like Barbaricle I guess but with worms and dirt

Fairy would 100% be a female martial artist line that ends in an evolution that looks something like Chun-Li. I picture them having a yin yang motif and being weirdly alien looking humanoids who fight with mystical energy. the base stage can maybe look more like a monster or nondescript like Smoochum, but it becomes more feminine and humanoid as it evolves.

Fire begins as a will-o-wisp and then evolves into a humanoid dancing flame, would be cute first stage and cute waifu material for second. definitely would have dancer, flame body and flash fire as abilities

Ground would be a dust bunny made of mostly multi colored lint and bits of dust. it would evolve into a Muk, Swalot or Garbodor like Pokemon made up of discarded cloth, lint and dust. I definitely picture it having fluffy as one of the abilities, maybe a knock off overcoat called dust jacket as well

Yeah this is definitely more about what Normal has evolved to encompass as the series has gone on. It absolutely represents sound, like in the case of the Pyroar and Wigglytuff lines. It’s not just for non-elemental creatures, but creatures that use their other, non-Normal type in a different way

They are all explicitly designed to feature particular icons relating to dragons. Appletun’s apple alludes to a dragon’s mouth on the apple, for example. It is also a pun on worm, like Exeggutor is a pun on Dracaena

Bug would be a three-stage line of fleas. My idea was to riff on the flea circus joke and have a small bouncing jester like Pokemon based on a flea. it would evolve into a Jack in the box as it's cocoon and then end up as a large punchinello-like thing with a single spring as it's leg, and it would get around by hopping and throwing its extendable fists out to attack. It's a lot going on lol

Steel would just be some normal looking Pokemon wearing armor. I really can't think of anything else. Maybe you could go with the idea of a knight in training becoming a full knight?

Poison could be a weird animal with a tumor idea. Basically some basic mon that has a tumor growing and overtime the tumor takes over the entire body. Design-wise it could look like a two-headed monster

Ice would be a poinsettia. A three-stage line similar to the Budew line but with a Christmas motif and lots of poisonous red poinsettia flowers. I picture the first stage looking like a frozen ornament sitting on mistletoe, the second stage basically being a poinsettia Christmas Roselia, and the final stage being a flower waifu with a Christmas theme blend of the poinsettia, a girl in a red dress, and the ghost of Christmas present.

Psychic will probably get taken by Slowbro in the expansion pack. But I have always thought that a leech, parasite, tick, mosquito, virus, earwig... anything like that would make sense. It would lean more Psychic than Poison but still be themed around draining moves

Steel would be a Mercury laden blobfish that is extremely toxic, something that would have the inverse of Galarian Ponyta's ability

Dark you could have fit so many other Pokemon under, but I guess something like a cockroach would be an interesting take on it

Dragon would definitely be a Battra/Destoroyah Kaiju pseuso and any other choice is wrong

Ice and normal would be a terrible combination but I've always had the idea of a two-stage husky line, Rushky, Slushky or Malamush as possible names. they would be speedy physical attackers with some slight bulk, maybe similar to the Lycanroc line for stats. flavor wise they would be based on sled dogs and have an affinity for being playful and hanging out in packs. first stage could be somewhat generic but a big fluffy husky puppy that's almost all fur, whilr the second stage is a little sleaker and probably still would just be "my mom's husky." Fur Coat, Friend Guard and Slush Rush for abilities. they can learn all the moves the other canines learn like the fangs and howl, as well as dome unique physical ice moves as well since it would not totally make sense for a dog to be using a move like icicle crash. one move idea I had was Polar Plunge, which would basically be an ice version of flame charge with a little more power. There's also a couple status moves I thought of for this line. Spot Me would send all your stat changes over to your ally; Pull Together would split your Speed stat between you and your partner; Cover would have you take damage for your ally on that turn; and Smile would give your ally +1 priority on their next turn. all these help sell the teamwork theme behind this line

Rock could be another form of armadillo, way more than Sandshrew is and that's not even an armadillo.

Ghost is a wendigo / skinwalker. it's too cool of an idea to pass up

Normal cover sound but it isn't just sound. I think it's more just things that don't really match any other element. And then when a Pokemon is part Normal and that element it's because it's not a master of that element, if that makes sense. It makes sense in the context of Flying type since we didn't get a pure Flying type until Tornadus, and unlike the birds he's actual wind. The only problem is the Corviknight line completely throws that out the window. I really don't get why they are pure Flying but all the other birds aren't. Seems like Game Freak was trying to course correct way too late

Also you're missing the point. All Pokemon you mentioned (except appletun) are all larvae, of course they don't necessarily look like strong mighty dragons. Yanmega is not a larvae, it's an evolution, there's nothing dragon like about it

Not sure if you're trolling or just plain dumb. They're not gonna change Zygardes type on different forms because they're all made of the same types of cells. Altaria is more than obviously a dragon, same for Reshiram (seriously dude?). Mega Ampharos was le pun and also they wanted to introduce more Dragon types to earlier gens, while Guzzlord is literally just Alolan (Ultra Space) Zygarde complete

I don’t care about yanmega but there are many dragonlike things about Golisopod.
Firstly it’s a good description of the kind of energy it brings. Secondly he has a kind of vicious military aesthetic that is sometimes related with dragons. Being a samurai is further justification as I believe samurai wore dragon iconography. Anyway it’s a better type than water which is applied very literally to an aquatic animal.

The issue here is, english speakers tend to think in english, and assume "dragonfly" is a universal concept. Guess what, it isn't. No other language calls them "dragon flies". They've already done it though. Vibrava and Flygon are adult antlions which are very similar to dragonflies and often mistaken for them. Realisitically there's no real reason why they would specifically become dragons other than the dragonfly pun so yes, they're clearly aware of the connection
