/vp/ has shit taste, end of story. Rillaboom is a shit design that mainly gets praise from contrarians. Rillaboom discussion mainly comprises of someone inevitably complaining about the dumb drum then explicitly or implicitly flinging shit at another starter (or it’s fans) since it has hardly anything of its own to speak of.

I think he looks better in motion. His idle pose is bad, but the design itself is a fantastic blend of the base animal and other motifs and he looks much more monstrous and badass when he's actually attacking.

I will be honest.

I don't actually hate that design once the official art got released and I got to see it in full. It's silly and ridiculous, yes, but it gives the impression that he's literally become an entire fucking forest by himself and all of the "drums" look like trees and canopy homes. The drumsticks are a bit too goofy sticking out of his hair like that but I genuinely like it for actually making use of the LE BIG XD idea by turning his drum/tree into an entire drumset/forest. It's something at least.

It's better than the other fucking two, anyways. Theirs aren't even bad, but they're so god damn generic (le long tail! how about a soccer ball haha literally soccer!) that it's just boring as hell. Worst part is that they have so little identity I don't really know what else they could have done with them. At least Rillaboom's more than "drums haha!".

Grookey was the best looking of the first stage starters because it didn't have the noodle proportions of the other two but rillaboom just isn't appealing to anyone. He's still good, he's got viable OU sets and he's fucking amazing in BSS. His signature move is also fantastic without needing to be retardedly overpowered or have two (Cinderace is the creator's pet of this gen I think we can all agree), nor is it useless (like Heat Crash on Emboar back when that was still his).

I understand why he's not the most popular of the gen worldwide, but I do think he deserves more credit than he's given. He at least looks like an actual monstrous animal like the gen 1 caricatures of such instead of the hyper-deformed "monsters" that most recent starters have been.

Gorillas are close enough to humans that you just accept that it's going to look humanlike by default and move on, which is fair. But this thing's stance is much more humanlike than gorillalike; it's just a strong human with oversize forearms and hair. Those Maui comparisons didn't make themselves. Sorry for the tiny picture, but I think it illustrates what I mean.
I'll give it this, outside of the drum, it mostly acts like an animal. Shit like incineroar and inteleon's hard coded personalities are stupid.

Part of the problem with that drum is you can tell that they only designed it with the game aesthetic in mind in which case the models are stationary. How the Hell is Rillaboom supposed to function in battle when it’s animated in the show rather than the games? Is it just gonna pick up its drum any time that it has to move around the battlefield and place it down again or is it just gonna make itself a mostly stationary target? Things like that are why they should have just left it with the sticks which could be used to drum on other objects but given it no drum

On Pixiv, Inteleon has exactly 1,500 works. 139 of them are R-18 shit, so it has a below average Porn Ratio of 9.2%
By comparison Rillaboom has 321 works (lol) and 25 of them are Porn, so his porn ratio is 7.8%. Their ratios are nearly identical.

But for sure, keep using the Coomer argument as a gigantic cope to rationalize people not liking your shitty starter

The only fact people prefer Rillaboom on /vp/ is because it is the only one who looks like a traditional pokemon (more monsterlike and less cartoonish). However even those people who prefer Rillaboom over the other 2 still don't like it very much and would more likely vote for pokemons like Corviknight, Dragapult and Toxtricity which are actually well designed pokemon.

Rillaboom has far less fans than Cinderace on /vp/ according both to a recent poll and the number of threads the starters get. You are just getting the wrong impression because frustrated monkey fans shit on the other two starters more often and/or don't hate Rillaboom but hate Cinderace or Inteleon, even though this almost never equates to them actually liking Rillaboom that much. Cinderace is the most popular starter here.
