Memes and shortcomings aside, these games are the peak of Pokemon. The artstyle was great, one of those rare times when you don't think it's outdated (it's still looking great). The balance issues can be solved by hacks and such. I don't think Black&White were a step backwards, they were just different. But if I had to choose the best Pokemon games, it would definitely be pic rel
