also yea, sun is pretty easy, since you can skip most of the trainers and everyone wants to heal your team.
But I dig the idea of having ridding pokemons and not need to have flying or water pokemon on team

Decided to try a nuzloke of shield but now I've run into a problem:
so for routes I'm ignoring the overworld pokemon and taking the first grass random encounter, but I'm not sure how to handle the Wild Area. 1 pokemon per named area? 1 pokemon ever? 1 pokemon per half?

My final tam on pokemon Y. Worked surprisingly well. Only downside was lack of HMs. With is weird since goodra have moody water but cannot learn surf.

Currently in Emerald using only pokemon found in Granite Cave. Mawile was my replacement starter until I got to Dewford. Skipped Nosepass and Geodude because I used them both recently in other runs.

Mawile can take beating and after mega can oneshot almost everything
Goodra is also bulky and can hit; learn ton of moves that you find on the road

Also, play what you want. When I go with my 1st run I usually not spoiler myself with what gym I'm gonna face next etc. Having fun is important, and even if you have problem with elite 4, there is always save/load and use of items. Also toxic ftw

Just beat the second gym in Pokemon Prism. Really good game so far but pretty easy. Probably going to evolve Eevee to Espeon then add Forretress and Electabuzz later.

I like SWSH, it's so fucking braindead I get on my exercise bike and just mash A to win and barely have to pay attention to the screen. Recently bought it used and decided to go through the story to prepare for the DLC even though I pirated it before. Since I'm not paying attention to the screen I can ignore the writing whenever it goes from barely acceptable to absolute bumfuck retarded too, but I can't ignore Hop's fucking terrible encounter theme that plays with every cutscene he's in since I use audio cues to mash the A button. I've gotten a lot of exercise with it.

Fucking stupid how you can't breed Gmax onto baby Pokemon so you can't use a Gmax against gym leader Gmaxes until postgame or using P*kachu/cumslut Pokemon otherwise known as Eevee, maybe I'll hack it onto my Corviknight and clean up the data after I reach postgame before going online. Also rate names in order

Well that doesn't help much. Try ORAS, Plat, or B2W2. Then pick a starter and team of monsters you wouldn't normally use. Of if you hate needing HMs try USUM. They're really hand holdy and have a lot of droning cutscenes, but they also have a wide variety of monsters, TMs, and there are no HMs so you can teach your team whatever you want.

No matter what game you pick though, just try and add challenge of do something you wouldn't normally do to help give the game a new perspective.

Also Dex Naving (specifically chaining for an exact mon) in ORAS or SOS chaining in USUM can be a lot of fun and makes hunting mons with ideal stats, natures, moves, and even shinies a lot more involved and entertaining. You can do something similar with the PokeRadar in I believe Platinum but to maximize it's effectiveness is a bit more tedious and doesn't give as many benefits overall. Platinum is just a good sized, somewhat naturally challenging game with a respectable Pokedex and very comfortable art style.

I never do any of that - hunting for stats, natures, shinies, etc. I tried shiny hunting back in Sun, caught a couple shinies, and ultimately found it a dull, unrewarding experience, even with one of the shinies being of one of my favorite evolution lines.

Idk. Maybe your best bet is to just put down the games for a while until you really feel the urge to play again. If you force it you'll just get bored quick. Me personally I just play them to catch shinies and build pokemon with ideal stats and natures. It keeps me busy and not entirely dedicated either so I can just hop from game to game whenever I feel like it.

Started a run of UM with:

Felt a bit burned out and unsatisfied with the team after Po Town so sent everyone to the ranch for a bit and reshuffled to:
