Legitimate complaint

I don’t like the “non-random” spawn encounters. I know that they’re well received because you spend less time fighting bottom feeders like Zubat and that you can find specific Pokémon much faster, but that’s the exact reason why I dislike it.
Pokémon has always been about the adventure to me. I’ve liked making up the narrative in my head and I believe that the strongest part of a Pokémon game is the world that you explore. Some of the thrill came from encountering rare Pokémon. There was always something rewarding about using walkthroughs and strategic repels to help find whatever rare bastard I was looking for. It was work, but it made it that much more rewarding.
Now with the new “non-random” spawn encounters, it makes it too easy. Everyone complains about gamefreak making shit too easy for the kids and holding your hand, but how is this not the exact same thing? I know that everyone’s going to bitch at me for saying that non-random encounters make the world more “real”, and I’m not saying that over world Pokémon don’t have a place in the new games, just not as battlers. Hell, have above world encounters with shadowy figures.
If you think that the encounter system would become dated if they removed this feature, you don’t have any imagination. Gamefreak hasn’t really done
>bait
>calls
>traps
>camouflage
(with the exception of one tree in sinnoh)
But if they did get rid of this, people would still bitch. Fuck this game
