Having RNG works fine in a ladder format. The good and bad luck will cancel out over many battles and people who are actually good at building teams and making decisions will rise to the top.
But in a single-elim tournament format it's fucking retarded. You can't determine the better player in a game this luck-reliant in a single battle (even a Bo5 or something is stretching it), you can only measure consistency over a long period of time.

Blame Pokémon Company and Game Freak for making the game horribly unbalanced. They can fix it but choose not to - it's easier to remove pokémon and moves from the game for them than actually put in effort.

The worst part was I didn't even lose the match to that. I lost the match to my own miss-play when I used Bullet Punch against at Frosslass that had used Destiny Bond the previous turn. Destiny Bond doesn't fade at the end of the turn, it fades at your next move.

The systems in place to make a pokémon "good" are both archaic and fucking stupid. It's telling that so much QoL went into avoiding doing half the things listed in the OP. Why the fuck we still even have IVs I'll never know, and when was the last time you EV trained 'legit' in Swsh?
