I know right, why do people still buy physical games? Its just a waste of plastic that will end up in the oceans or in a landfill for all eternity. So glad I bought the digital release

I buy physical, as if you take care of it right, you have it for life.
All my old carts, stretching back to the Game Boy still work, alongside the hardware (need to replace the bottom touch screen on my DS lite though).

And what happens when you die, anon? You can't take it with you, and I doubt someone else will be willing to hoard your pokemon game collection forever. As soon as plastic is hit with sunlight it can leak chemicals into the air around in as well, it's dangerous stuff

I can lend physical games to friends. I dont have to redownload them or dedicate memory space to them. On generations when support for a game system dies I dont have to worry about losing it.

We're talking less than a MB versus dozens of GBs. Negligible. I do not mind save data being on my switch, but there have better be some damn good games if I'm going to store their entire data on my system.

You're renting your games. They already turned off the DS and Wii online, and the 3DS and Wii U are shutting down this summer. Your Switch games will be yours for maybe another five years before the servers go down.

Buying any pokemon game before they release all of the third version/DLC content is a mistake you should be able to avoid since gen 4
