I'm very aware of the examples you just posted but still, I don't like the direction the show has taken. For me Ash stopped being a character with actual development, he's just an "icon" they can reuse and reboot for as long as they want, throwing from time to time a flashback or an older character (it would be stupid not to do it, considering the cast is huge) for the sake of fanservice and to give the illusion that there's some kind of continuity, despite the fact that Ash is still a kid and that he became an absolute newbie after 660 episodes (that is, when BW started).
