Tips for beating the Battle Frontier in Emerald?

I'm planning on doing a replay soon and I wanna be able to get both the silver and gold frontier symbols at the end as well. I've never done it on my actual cartridge so it should be a challenge.

Whats a solid team for taking on all the brains? I'm thinking Metagross, Swampert and Latias would be pretty good.

i've never watched a speed run in my life, i just thought of easy strong to obtain pokemon.

I'd gladly use other things, i just remember the frontier in emerald being way harder than the one in plat.

I did EV train yes, I wasn't that strict though, and I didn't really care about natures.
I had to EV train because I noticed that without EVs, it's really hard to win in the later stages.
Initially I had Steelix in my team but it wasn't that useful.

One technique I used was fighting wild Dittos and making them transform into Pokémon who give 3 EVs and I made them faint with my target Pokémon

I used swords dance Blaziken, a Milotic for Toxic stalling, and a rest talking Regice with pretty good results. Had to replace Blaziken with a choice banded Metagross for the later floors of the battle tower since he kinda sucks in gen 3. Honestly, my Milotic really carried my team. Bulky waters like Milotic, Swampert, and maybe Suicune if you trade from FRLG help get through all the bullshit.

I've found Destiny Bond on pokemon like Gengar to work well, since the AI isn't smart enough to require much prediction. This usually allows for a 1-to-1 trade if things head south or even 2-for-1 if the user wins then successfully uses Destiny Bond.

In general I wouldnt bother with stally Pokemon, not only it will take longer to get through each game, theyre also very suspectible to usual battle facility bullshit like random OHKO moves.

Latios is definitely a must, shits broken and barely needs EV training and good nature to be good.

Gengar with D-Bond is fantastic as >>43633314 said, you dont have the option to run Focus Sash but its relatively easy to predict when you gonna die anyway (especially with no Choice Scarf around). Sub Boltbeam with DBond and Leftovers sounds good.

Last mon should be something to cover the Ghost weakness, even if its not that relevant in this gen.

For Factory, remember the substitution trick from Plat doesnt exist here, so only trade when you get a shit starting hand or something. I’d personally recommend starting at lv50 because the first 3 waves are so weak the AI has difficulties beating you lmao

For Palace go full offense imho, with natures that attack in every situation

battle factory should be the first one you beat since you dont even need to build a team for it
hope you got good natured pokemon for the bottom right place, i had to get pokemon with new natures just so they would attack
literally just get lucky at the seviper tunnel, this should be the second place you clear right after the factory

Factory is arguably one of the hardest facilities. The luck based ones (Pike, Arcade) and Dome are the easiest.

Yes. If you dont understand strategy in mons or don’t want to breed/train then Factory is a good place to start, even if beating it is quite challenging especially in HGSS/Plat. Start at lv50 and remember to swap a Pokemon with your opponent after every battle. The way Factory works is that you get stronger Pokemon with better movesets the longer you progress through your streak. If you keep swapping Pokemon after every battle, at the start of next streak you will get 1 or 2 Pokemon that come from the wave *after* the one you’re currentely doing. So if you beat streak 1 swapping Pokémon 7 times, you will get 1-2 Pokémon from streak 3 when you start doing streak 2. There is I believe a thread on smogon that explains this way better than I do, but trust me, it works.

If you're going for silvers you can do it with your adventure team.
If you're going for 105 wins at the Battle Tower you want to have as many well placed 31's as you can, competitive EVs and a well balanced team because you have to win 105 times in a row but the AI only has to win once. From 36 onward you're playing russian roulette with Fissure, Guillotine, Sheer Cold and Horn Drill. From 50 onward you're dealing with full legendary teams including exploding Regis. Your attacks will miss, often, your opponent's wont. You'll get critical hit more than you did in your entire adventure, and you'll quickly learn why Double Team and Minimize are banned in competitive.

Did you play de vanilla enough to finish the Frontier? I'm playing a hack Emerald rom with Quality of Life enhancements, few of the gameplay changes of future generations and some tweaks. It's a shake if you had enough of the new game and wants to try stuff.

This, but for a slightly different reason. Always do Factory before Tower. For some reason the mechanics behind the Factory are bugged, so the IVs of opponent Pokemon are tied to your Tower streak instead of your Factory one (the initial team you get are correctly applied though.) So if you do Factory before Tower, you'll end up facing mons with a much higher IV spread than what you'll get (~20IV on opponents vs. your flat 3IVs), making it much harder than it should be.

The plat frontier was definitely doable, dunno what caused gamefreak to go insane with the emerald frontier.
