It's been a while since I've hunted, but my last success was a shiny den I set up a month ago to get a good many psychic types. I was specifically going for Meowstic, and had to use my brothers copy of Sword to get one of both shiny genders.

Yes. Many, many times in the past. Off the top of my head, I remember killing two shiny Magnemite in Moon with skill link fury attack trumbeak, and killing a shiny Petilil also in Moon because I didn't realize it was shiny.

Usually a nice little freak out, though generally much more subdued than when I first used to hunt. Generally larger responses for the longer hunts though.

Yep. Lost a shiny Bruxish about 9 times over the course of an all nighter shiny hunt for it. Lost it 4 times to the SOS pokemon killing itself with struggle, 4 times to accidentally killing the SOS mon with my Kartana I was using to hunt, and 1 time by killing the shiny itself. Didn't help that I had recently gotten some new games and was hunting in the loading screens and what not.

Don't know if I want to hunt via the method of buying 5 pokemons, see if any is shiny then resets, via a catch chain or if I continue getting one via hatching eggs.

got pic related in Clover after 98 resets via buying them at the Game Corner, it even had better IV's than the same pokemon I was already using so that was nice.

Once I gave up on shiny hunting one of Unova's starters in White because I wanted to focus more on playing the game. Might also drop shiny hunting via egg hatching methods for a shiny Emelgy in Clover too.

I freeze and I focus most of my attentions on the shiny and making sure I save the game once I got it.

Once I did a reset by accident when I got Chikorita as a shiny in SS, continued shiny after that and got a shiny Totodile in the end.

fyi if you want a shiny starter you can't just breed a female with red gyarados for le ebin 1/64 odds. that pairing will never produce a shiny because of gender ratios and GS stat inheritance autism

Eiscue is Eiscute, even if i think they should've done more with it.
also totally a worse design than the voltorb line i know it's kinda like a mimic but at least do something better than "yeah just put eyes and a mouth on the pokeball", even in gen 1.

I think making shinies easier to get has made the shiny hunting community way bigger. It's not a niche but a big part of the game for some with lots of people streaming.

I only shiny hunt in gen 3 because that is what is fun for me. I like finding random shines in any gen and I try to use them in the game but for me gen 3 is were I like to collect.

It's a 1% chance, so that's about 9000 minutes, or 150 hours, for one encounter.
Odds are 1/8192, which would take 1,228,800 hours to reach
That divides into 51,200 days. Assuming you only slept between encounters, it would take you 140 years to hit odds. This doesn't count the honey you'd have to buy or the run to each tree.

In Sun, got my first and probably last SOS shiny with a rare call-rate: Dhelmise.
Synchronizer failed, but luckily the Nature it got was still competitively usable.

In Ultra Moon, hatched a Ponyta through swap breeding, my first Shiny hatched in this game.

Worst ones that come to mind are Solrock in Ruby, Zubat in Leaf Green, and Gogoat in Y's Friend Safari.

in Pokemon W2 I got the shiny charm and was so excited to go hunting. fug it, started with bulbusaur, im going to get all the shinies eventually, right? I Masuda method bred that bulbasaur for months and managed to fill up the entire pc multiple times. never found shiny bulbasaur and gave up when XY came out.

I was grinding this recent event to get the first batch of extra apriballs + dream ball over to my main game and after I started a new game, the very first wild pokemon I met on Route 1 was a shiny Rookidee. Didn't believe it would ever happen to me.
That said, my only active hunt is a shiny Moltres in LG Eevee, I already found the other two shiny birds and after that I can finally beat the league and hunt for shiny Mewtwo.

Yeah, I was shiny hunting the other day on Mt Moon while I was doing something else. When I left the room to respawn the Pokémon, I noticed a shiny Chansey was there, but it was too late.
Also, I found a shiny Swanna in Ultra Sun 2 or 3 months ago. I used False Swipe to leave it with 1 HP but it used Brave Bird, killing itself.
