Yeah it's probably that. Thought it'd come out a little sooner but here we are. They're also doing weekly Gigantamax raid events right now so wonder iwhat's coming after Eevee. Meowth is probable, but maybe they'll actually do Melmetal too?

It's friday and nintendo likes friday releases for videogames but I don't really remember if they do the same for DLCs too

Doubt it. Crown Tundra will be able to give the Gigantamax factors to certain Pokemon with the trees. Isle of Armor is doing a "freebee" for your starter, but after that you have to wait for Crown Tundra to do it unlimited times for your own Pokemon.

DLCs are usually Wednesday or Thursday in most cases, but because this Pokemon DLC is basically a Major Game Release for them this year, a Friday release would make sense.

It's the most likely option.
I'd prefer Gigantamax Melmetal event myself, but Game Freak has gone out of their way to avoid that event by stalling out with VGC and 1-week Gigantamax events.
