Has there ever been an animal/creature you had been eagerly hoping to get the Pokémon treatment? But when it happened, you didn't like the design? A revealed pre-evo you loved? Couldn't WAIT to see how it evolved? . . And then they disappointed you?

Regular Rapidash is the fierce, angry one right? Y'know because it's ON FIRE? So clearly if we're just going for a vanilla unicorn here, this one shouldn't be fierce. It should be really calm, beautiful and magical-

The problem is that instead of being a mythical unicorn where it's awe-inspiring and grand, it's a modern take on unicorns. Where the "purity" aspect of them is take cynically, and they're portrayed as stuffy and shallow and disdainfully full of themselves.

It wasn't hard, god dam it! It would not have needed anything special! It's supposed to be this pure, compassionate, beautiful gentle thing and its design conveys precisely none of that. Just make it the kind of unicorn people actually like! Gaaaaah!!!

That's exactly how Amalthea in The Last Unicorn was portrayed though. I like it better that way

I guess for me the reason I don't like G. Rapidash is because it seems to have been made in the same way clueless toy marketers make toys for little girls. They don't truly understand WHY they like what they like, they don't really care if the actual reason unicorns are so beloved goes beyond the pink sparkles you see on the outside. They don't GET that people think unicorns are awesome for reasons other than being pretty horses.

G. Rapidash seems like it had glitz and glam thrown onto it. It wasn't made with respect to, or understanding of, the source material. Like okay fine, if you take this horned horse and add superficially pretty elements I guess people will like it, but it's shallow. It could have been so much more, and I'm disappointed at this clearly phoned in mishandling of the unicorn. Unicorn's don't need to be the hottest shit to ever walk the Earth in every media, it's not always appropriate. But still. Unicorns legitimately are one of the best mythical creatures we have, when handled right, but people who care more about tangible self-gain and outer beauty instead of inner beauty always bother me with their watered-down misunderstanding of what unicorns can be.

It's not like it's HARD to represent a unicorn "correctly" but I'm just let down honestly but Galarian Rapidash's shallow approach to unicorns.

Well I got what I wanted I guess but I'm not thrilled... I like Silicobra at least. I'd like Sandaconda a lot more if that tube on its face was detachable, made of its own shed skin. It looks dumb with it permanently mounted there.
