Yes they really need to.
They can't rely on social media shilling and youtube influences to market their games forever.
they will reach a time where people get sick of their games once the pokemon fad stops giving them cool internet points

Pokemon fad ended after Gen2 and got resurrection with Pokemon GO in 2015.

Most big franchises lost their fad over time
Star Wars, Final Fantasy, Disney, Yugioh, Harry Potter, etc...

The reason why "adults" still buy Pokemon is because it makes them noticed on the internet while the target audience, the children, still playing shooters and minecraft instead because children don't care about internet points

First part is true, second isn't because the adults who buy it for internet points will also buy it because "my kids will like it" and shower them in Pokemon stuff, getting them hooked.
