Then you would be completely wrong. English refers to a swimming move, French is a water based pun and Italian refers to a nautical maneveur. It's Water type beyond any reasonable doubt.

If it's physical it wouldn't be that good on Peli, it would be weak as fuck and unlike U-Turn it could be blocked. This move will be great on actual offensive threats like Azumarill, or on defensive Waters that do not already have a pivoting move, like Alomomola or Toxapex.

I bet it doesn't make contact and doesn't do damage, that's the only way to keep it semi balanced. It appeared the only reason the allowed bug type to have an offensive pivot is because it is such a resisted type. I hope this allows for u-turn to be distributed to more bug types. I'd like to see flip turn distributed to grapploct and the ice crab too!

There are a loooot of great Water-type Pokemon that would be borderline busted if they were given a momentum gaining move, STAB or not;
Toxapex, Dracovish, Seismitoad, Pelipper, Barraskewda, Slowbro, Gastrodon, Swampert, Kyogre, Keldeo, Milotic, Rotom-W.
It would be a great addition to a type of Pokemon who already perform great in the metagame.

We'll see but that still sounds vague enough to get out of hand within a generation. It doesn't quite have the specificity of something like Quiver Dance or Shell Smash. Like you said it depends on the Japanese name.

This doesn't matter because U-turn/Volt Switch are used for their switching effect, not the damage. Even special attackers will run U-turn if they have it simply because unlike Volt Switch, nothing is immune to U-turn.

Almost every time a good Ice-type move gets added it ironically makes Ice-types themselves worse, because Pokémon of other types usually (usually Water-types) get access to those same moves and can make better use of them

It's not really fiery, burning or scorching are more accurate translations in this context. Seems like the inspiration behind the move is just the hot sand you can't walk on in really hot days on the beach. Every Pokémon that lives in a sandy desert seems like a good enough candidate for learning the move, even certain non-grounds like Maractus or Darmanitan.
