God, these overworld sprites are so fucking ugly, look at the arms? Do people actually think these are good? A total downgrade compared to gen IV

Gen 4 sprites are much closer to 3 than 5

BW was an amazing campaign with all-new Pokemon and a story that tried to be a little bit more serious with good philosophy
but the generation as a whole was just a "sidegrade" from gen 4, certainly the generation that made the least progress technically and mechanically, and even aesthetically

The dpp character sprites are better but the gen 5 games i would say are ten times more visually fleshed out. In dpp and earlier games everything is repeated far to much
