Gen 3 and even gen 5 for that matter are fucking based, they focused exclusively on their own vision of what a pokemon games should be. they put real effort into creating an entirely new battles system on top of the existing one where every move not only has it's own unique effect but they had relationships with other moves and so on, instead of wasting time simply carrying shit over from the previous games to suit fans like you who literally do not remotely understand game design and are mad that the games didn't have everything old in it. Seriously, they probably asked themselves "Hey, should these games have kanto and johto in them same as gen 2?" and they said fucking NO because the games were about hoenn and should feature hoenn shit with the old being more of an afterthought. God, can you imagine how terrible hoenn would be if they wasted time pandering to people who couldn't let go of the past to such a degree that they demand every new game carry over literally everything from the previous games. The games are stale as is, the choice to focus on the new instead of waste insane amount of time cramming in all the old was the single best thing they learned from making gen 2
