No other rival annoys you half as much as he does. Blue and Silver both show up occasionally to ambush you. That's what a good rival should do.

Where does this meme come from? I don't remember ever feeling like either of them ever 'ambushed' me even back when I was a dumb kid. The closest I can think of is when Blue fights you in Silph Co and I though 'huh, didn't expect you here' but never did I feel like I was ambused.

Hau is MILES better than Hop.

My god, I just beat this game and Hop made me want to throw the controller away multiple times. It's a fucking ambush. Every corner, evey time I left a building, every time I entered a building, this fucking abomination was there to trigger a completely useless dialogue. Who the fuck designed this game? Of course it's japanese. The same people who gave us Navi. Why are these people obsessed with interrupting gameplay every five seconds?

That's not what rivals do. A rival is someone you regularly compete against. Rivals motivate each other to become stronger.

yeah, that's really early in the game and I literally said it was front loaded

Tierno isnt a rival though, thats the mistake people often make. He's a friend, he doesnt aim to beat the league, he doesnt even fight gyms.

I'm not gonna lie, that whole mini-arc where he goes through a lot of self-doubt and it actually reflects this by having his team change to be a bunch of freshly caught randoms actually kinda redeemed him for me.

You fight him 3 times in total. And again, he's not aiming for the league at all. Battling someone more than once doesnt make them rivals. You battle Gabby and Ty more than you battle Tierno and Trevor. Are Gabby and Ty rivals?

She literally only says Hey! and will only talk if you actually call for her. The only times she stops you is for actually important stuff and is like three times at most. When will this boomer meme end? If anything you should've said Fi, Fi actually does stop you every two seconds to tell you useless info or stuff you literally just saw in a cutscene.
