They have unique designs and different personalities/quirks. Cinderace is basically a shonen protag that specializes in soccer, Rillaboom is a professional drummer, and Inteleon is a sleek spy. Rillaboom also contrasts nicely with the other starters as it's more primal.

Gen 3 is still the best starters designwise. Slightly above gen 1 just because Blastoise and Venusaur are a little bit bland.

I like the three starters but that pic in the OP is shit. Inteleon's body is supposed to be alot more skinny and slick than that, Rillaboom's proportions should be alot more muscular, and neglecting Cinderace's cute tiny rabbit hands is, well, misguided

Cinderace looks fine kicking shit, Rillaboom looks fine playing music and has a fantastic G-Max move, Inteleon looks fine doing it's finger guns.

Samurott does NOT look fine moving in literally all work of media featuring him. It's a bad design from a simple functional concept standpoint.

I prefer to use viable shit during my plays then I can train whatever shitmons I like after I beat the game, I don't do competitive but I don't like training total shitmons that need to go back to heal over and over, it is tiresome
