Where did the misconception that Fire/Ground/Rock Pokemon can't touch water come from? They literally drink and bathe in the stuff like any other living creature.

Anime. Plus, the whole bullshit about Charmander's line dying if the flame at the end of their tail goes out. Which is ludicrous considering they live in a world where rain is a thing.

This. It's incredible how the anime distorted so many concepts like cries and weight/height. Pokémon's weaknesses being treated like alergies is another one and it's fucking stupid.

Charmander was weak because it was abandoned in the wild, the rain had nothing to with it. Its tail had just gotten to a point where rain could extinguish it.

They stopped treating weaknesses like allergies after the first season. Height/weight is acceptable because the ones in the dex are the species average. Not every single Pokemon of a species is the exact same size.

In the anime, Charizard is literally submerged in water for several seconds at one point.
At most, the flame is a slight weak point, but a healthy Charmander won't die just from splashing some water on its tail.

This happens with any new franchise. Nothing was clearly defined yet back then, so the artists and animators had nothing to work off of and had to make stuff up.

It's quite telling that around mid-Johto, they stopped making stuff up because they didn't need to anymore; Game Freak started working and communicating with them on a constant basis and provided reference material.

It all depends of pokemon.
The Pokemon with high body temp, don't need water, as their organs don't need it.

Yeah, I like how most Pokemon anime that aren't part of the main show have the Pokemon make authentic animal noises instead of goofingly repeating their names.

No, it's not. It's just the GB having shitty sound quality. The cries got better as the gens passed due to technology improving. There was never a "point" to the cries.
