>>43694477>You have things like the Ruins of Alph, Mt. Mortar, the depths of Union Cave rewarding you are exploration all the timeThree whole locations, wow.
Mt. Mortar is an HM slogfest, Union Cave literally only exists to get a Pokemon that's gifted to you for free in RBY, and the Ruins of Alph has barely anything.
>There are plenty of landmarks tooLol if those count as landmarks Alola literally has dozens. Try harder.
>because it's a sequel Ah I see, it's supposed to be bad and unoriginal?
A sequel usually implies new locations, new characters, new things that the game wants you to experience and see. Kanto is shitted on you in half a dozen ways before you reach the actual region.
And yes, sequels do get criticized for bullshit like this. Look at Bravely Second.
>It's a minuscule flaw for the games to haveYes, turning 80% of the game into a yawnworthy button mashing fest is just a minor flaw. Nonlinearity is not a fucking excuse.
>It *is* annoying when it happensWhich is all the time. Accusing others of being disingenuous, but you're implying these aren't horribly frequent.
>Umbreon, Magneton, Scizor, Steelix, Forretress and SkarmoryUmbreon and Forretress are assholes to get, Scizor and Steelix are trade evos, Skarmory is Silver exclusive, Magneton is just one mon. Try harder.
>or having hidden/hard to find Pokemon in generalWhen all of the new mons are hard to fucking find outside of like, 8 lines, in favor of k-k-k-KANTOOOOOOO there's a pretty big issue.
>So is Gen 2lol, black and white abstractions are pretty, sure thing bud
>But the plot and characters are terribly obtrusiveIf that's the entirety of the criticism levelled against Gen 7's plot it's barely criticism at all. RPGs are meant to tell stories, and want to ensure the player hears the stories they have to tell. Johto has fucking nothing and you're covering up in the most, wait for it, disingenuous way.
