>>43690982I am mixed on Ohmori. I like that he tries to change up Pokemon from the stagnation that Masuda himself had caused, and that he added a lot of things that he personally wanted in the games (such as riding Pokemon, fleshed out secondary characters, scrapping HMs, and QOL stuff to make competitive Pokemon more accessible to newer or casual players). Ohmori adds a surpriseness factor to the games that stem from the fact that he came in as a fan. He wants to make the games better for fans and casuals alike. But with that said, Ohmori listens too closely to his superiors Masuda and Ishihara on trying to use outdated video game industry standards when developing his games, and making the Pokemon games more of a marketing cost for the merchandise and TCG than actual content worth playing. ORAS, as flawed as they were, were great games and better than RS. SM and USUM were also great games. SWSH was the first game Ohmori developed that was shit, although it had a lot of promise and several of the new stuff Ohmori added was actually welcome. SWSH is proof that Game Freak's current company culture does not work in a modern video game setting, and they should not splinter off their employees to develop games for more complex and stronger hardware, and they should make the games themselves the actual product because they are the primary marketing tool. Ohmori is the type of person that has a lot of promise as a developer due to his desire to change up the formula and his passion when developing the games. Ohmori is just affiliated with the wrong fucking people who are whispering bullshit into his ears. Masuda and Ishihara only see dollar signs; they don't have the passion to make these games anymore, and Game Freak is suffering from franchise fatigue. Ohmori is not though. If Ohmori worked with actual people that had passion for the franchise, he would make several promising games. Ohmori is the diamond needle in a shitstack.
