>>43693973There's a lot of reasons but the most basic one is that I've always liked how they look from the moment I saw them as a young'un. Both on their own and together, they're very visually appealing to me. Maybe it was the excitement of getting new games but they're the very first designs that really stood out to me and captured my heart and I've been in love with them ever since.
When I saw them in Colosseum, I got even more attached to them as it was when I first learned about Linoone's ability to stand up (which blew my mind at the time) and more importantly the themes behind the designs (never looked at dex entries as a kid). Fucking love their themes - they're easily my favourite in the franchise and I think are one of the best examples of both naturally fleshing out a theme in a Pokémon's design without getting in the way and of evolution between two Pokémon as a whole. Every little bit of their designs - their appearance, their behaviour, their little quirks and even their gameplay - all of it comes together cleanly to become a fully realised concept. You can see those themes in every part of them and all of Zigzagoon's traits end up maturing nicely as one of Linoone's. The transition from Zigzagoon to Linoone is one of the most "complete" in the franchise and I get a lot of enjoyment just experimenting with different ideas and jokes around them thanks to it. It's such a simple little theme, but such a fun one nonetheless.
They're also some of my favourite Pokémon to use. Whether it be a simple playthrough where they can fulfil a bunch of different roles and have Pickup which is one of my favourite abilities or if it's battling with others and clicking funny extreme speed button for a good sweep - I have a good time with them.
Lastly, I really like badgers. Linoone's probably a big reason why but in general I love animals from the Arctoidea infraorder and I've been hoping to get a European badger for a while so the Galarian variant was a huge welcome.
