Just sick and tired of these zooms pretending the story or scenes in any pokemon game (YES EVEN SWSH, AND SM USM) are comparable to the massive lore and walls of text you saw in older better rpgs.

God this. Atleast when I'm having people talking at me in a proper RPG I can take comfort in the fact that the story is fun or funny.

Meanwhile Pokemon's best dialogue is strictly limited to "a few battle tower NPCs are kinda sassy i guess', with fucking putrid bare stories and, in the case of the game in the OP, flat out cringy. Even as a stupid fucking kid I already rolled my eyes with everything involving the team plasma" in those games.

Either Pokemon has the decency to hire some good writers for once or just fucking stop with the interruptions.

Actually it isn't, because there's no fade-to-black follow by character animation and close-ups. It's just text. Just go to Options, set Text Speed to Fast and mash A. If BW2 was in Gen 7 and 8, Pokestar Studios would've had cutscene where we get an overview of the entire map follow by character animations(like waving hands, hau dance, explaining hand movement, etc.), close-ups, and then fade-to-black.

as someone who plays lots of jrpgs, pokemon handles cutscenes in a very intrusive way.

Games like DQ11 do a much better job and dividing the gameplay segments and the story stuff. Never feels like you're being interrupted. Also helps that all the cut-scenes are real cut-scenes and not just tons of text boxes.

Because in Sun and Moon there's long pauses in between dialogue boxes so the characters can do animations or the camera can fade to a different angle. SM has the same amount of text as BW but it takes twice as long to get through it

Yeah this, the text boxes in BW and BW2 can atleast be mashed through if you don't care about the story or are replaying the game.

SM has these terrible pauses and animations you have to watch constantly, it slows the game down so badly.
