I want to play Gen 3 again but have a question. How do abilities work in these old games? Do Pokemon still have two normal abilities? Like can I make a rain team with a drizzle Pelliper or is Pelliper stuck with just keen eye?

Pokemon do not have hidden abilities and Pelipper only got Drizzle in Gen 7.

unfortunately most mons in adv don't have good abilities and many abilities are actually useless.

For instance study only protects from ohko moves, so its competitively moot.

HA did not exist this early on and many of the staple abliites did not even exist yet. Really, if you look at the distinction between OU and UUBL- you'll notice one of the differences is the OU mons actually have good abilities. Ttar is king off its ability

I hope youre playing ORAS. Gen 3 hasnt really aged well since Gen 4's attack split. Examples, Mightyena and Crawdaunt are special types, but their attack is higher.

otherwise, i hope youre playing emerald which is useful for something else
