It becomes a big fat bulldog, with spotty skinfur (kinda like Venusaur) and a red aspect to its color scheme. The shiny has brown instead.

I just prefer it for the flavor too. Ledian is supposed to be the 5 star pokemon and has nothing other than comet punch. Maybe removing some of the investment in def and putting it into attack and giving it meteor mash and pure power.

Maybe you could give it an ability that makes it so the enemy takes the recoil damage instead.
Make it kind of an advancement on Reckless, like Staraptor got better control of its power.
So Brave Bird usually makes Staraptor take 1/3 of the damage dealt from using it, but with the new ability, it makes the move 1.33x stronger. And since there's no recoil move that does less than 20% of the damage dealt, it would be a straight upgrade from Reckless in every case.
And if you want to go overkill, maybe even have it transfer every negative effect of a move, like lowering the opponent's defenses with Close Combat.
That should get Staraptor out of UUBL.
