I think it's a great idea I just think it's dogshit they made it so they need to hold new items. The idea is great if it was 'hey I going to trade my old dusclops up this to this new game I got and WOAH it's evolving'. But no, even if you did that it wouldn't evolve, youd have to trade it uo,, give it the item and trade it again. It just feels like too much.

GTS was dogshit because you couldn't add extra requirements like "pokemon x should be holding y/z" and most of the time, you'd get pokemons that won't evolve even if its traded and those who actually placed ones with held items have dogshit requirements like a mew or some legendary

They had that points feature in XY where you'd get more point for trading, they could've just used that as an option to revamp the system to not be as stupid while still encouraging online interactions, like maybe create a consumable that let's you evolve those trade only mons
