What do you think of people that intentionally sandbag in competitive play (i.e. they play bad on purpose so when they get serious and beat you, you look even worse)?

I am not great at the game, no. Relatively new to competitive Pokemon despite being a longtime fan of the games. I say all this because a buddy of mine I played with did exactly what I mentioned, i.e. played terrible intentionally to get my hopes up, then actually used his knowledge of the game when he was like 3 Pokemon down and destroyed me. When he told me afterwards, I was mad.

What would be the point of doing that? The one you fought op, was probably an unexperienced player that made poor decisions only in the begging of the game. Don't act like a schizo thinking they are trying to sabotage your game that nobody will ever watch

just use perfect pokemon 31 iv and good ev distrubution and depending on your gen you are playing use a good team if you have to copy a smogon team as your last resort

But I said I wasn't great. I was upset because it was like he was mocking me. When I asked him why he did that, he just said 'Because it's more stylish and shit'. If he said he was giving me a chance to pull one out of my ass, I'd accept it. But he was clearly just trying to style on me for the sake of it. That would hurt the pride of most people, anon.

He just knows how to play, and instead of stomping through your team he went a bit easy on you. He wasn't trying to ridicule you but the opposite, he was trying to make it a bit more fun for both.
